African teams have dominated the Arab Cup and Egypt will look to keep the run going when they take on Jordan in the third quarter final. Heading here, the North Africans topped their group ahead of Algeria while Jordan finished second behind Morocco in Group C. Egypt are unbeaten so far; in their final group game they had to come from down to draw with Algeria. In each of their three matches so far, they’ve won a penalty, a pointer to their domination in attack. They scored seven times in the three group games and three red cards have been issued in their last two matches, all to opponents. The strength in this Egypt team is such that in their seven goals, no player has scored twice, and they have two clean sheets.

Jordan managed two wins at the group stage and were handed a heavy loss in between them by Morocco, a 4-0 whitewash. In their three matches they managed one clean sheet and conceded five goals, a pointer that they need to be at their very best to keep this Egypt side in check. At the group stage, they beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the opening game courtesy of an own goal and both teams had a player sent off. They were then completely dominated by Morocco then recovered against the weak Palestine, to win 5-1, a game they seemed to be under pressure in until they got three goals in the final eight minutes.
