Egypt - Ghana: Form Analysis
Egypt will be looking to rise from their lackluster performance against Mozambique on Match Day 1. An early goal from Mostafa Mohamed was not enough to secure three points for the Pharaohs, who found themselves chasing the game at the hour mark. Two goals in as many minutes destabilized the seven-time AFCON winners and they needed the VAR to avoid defeat. A late Mohamed Salah penalty after action was called back following an infringement in the box saved Egypt’s face. They will be looking to do better here, having avoided defeat in the last four meetings with Ghana. With their draw on Match Day 1, Egypt come into this game unbeaten in their last six matches. They have suffered just one loss inv the last 15 matches and will be right to feel as favorites here. In each of their last four matches, the North Africans have scored at least two goals. They carry a prolific run that has seen them net in each of their last 16 matches.
Despite their profile in African football, Ghana will not go into this game on a very strong footing. They actually run the risk of elimination at the group stage for a second successive AFCON tournament. Their performance against Egypt hasn’t also been the best in recent times, which all works against them. The last meeting between these two ended in a 1-1 draw – a World Cup qualifier in 2017. That was the fourth straight game between the teams that Ghana failed to win. Ahead of this game the Black Stars extended their poor run, opening their campaign with a shock 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde. Chris Hughton’s side has managed just one win in the last six outings and it will be a major concern facing a team as strong as Egypt. Their AFCON figures are as bleak, Ghana failing to win any of their last five matches at the competition. They’ve lost three of their last five AFCON matches and managed just a win in the last 10.

Egypt & Ghana Squad Analysis
Egypt had a good start against Mozambique but could not build on it. Top stars like Mohamed Salah were to blame for a spiritless performance. The Liverpool man will be keen to make up for the lackluster performance, knowing too well that dropping points here could be detrimental to their ambitions. The Pharaohs haven't reported any injuries from their opening game and neither do they have any absences. It is not so straightforward for Ghana, who may have to miss star player Mohamed Kudus. The West Ham United man missed the opening game with an injury carried from his club and it is a race against time for the Black Stars to have him ready. After watching the team struggle in attack, Hughton may opt to give starts to Andre Ayew and Inaki Williams here. Both players started from the bench on Match Day 1.

Our Egypt vs Ghana Prediction
Ghana are clearly the underdogs coming into this game, even though both sides struggled in their opening matches. In recent meetings with Egypt, Ghana have struggled and this isn’t the kind of match they’d have wished for at the moment. Egypt have looked stronger and will be favorites to rise from their dismal Match Day 1 showing. Our prediction for Egypt v Ghana is for Egypt to win.
Egypt vs Ghana - Other Interesting Predictions
Egypt win to nil
Egypt’s dominance over Ghana has been highlighted with the Pharaohs’ superiority in defence. They haven't conceded more than a goal in their last four meetings with Ghana. Meanwhile, they have kept two clean sheets in their last three meetings with Ghana. Egypt have also kept clean sheets in three of their last four encounters ahead of this one. In their last seven AFCON matches, Egypt have kept clan sheets at 90 minutes in five of them. Ghana on the other hand, have failed to score in three of their last five matches. As we back Egypt to win here, we will also be going for the Pharaohs to do it without conceding.
