For the first time since 1964, Egypt will be featuring in back-to-back Olympic football tournaments. They start off their quest with a Group C game against the Dominican Republic on Wednesday. Let’s have a look at the numbers going into the match and have a prediction.

Egypt U23 do not come here on similar highs as in 2021, when they were African champions. This time they lost in the final, but still got their ticket here as runners-up. The experience in the team is shaped by head coach Rogerio Micale, who guided Brazil to gold in Rio 2016.

They also have former Arsenal man Mo Elneny as one of the overage, experienced players. Egypt U23 wrapped up their preparations for this competition with a 2-1 win over Iraq. They had earlier beaten Cote d’Ivoire twice and drawn with Ukraine ahead of their 13th Olympics appearance.
