After one month of football action in Gabon, the Africa Cup of Nations draws to a close with the match between Egypt and Cameroon winding up the affairs. Cameroon got to the finals after beating Ghana 2-0 in the semifinal and Senegal in the quarterfinals. Earlier in the tournament, the Indomitable Lions beat debutantes Guinea Bissau and drew with both Gabon and Burkina Faso to emerge second in their group. Egypt, who have won the tournament seven times in the past, topped their group after two wins (against Ghana and Uganda) and one draw (against Mali). They then went on to eliminate Morocco in the quarterfinals before beating Burkina Faso on post-match penalties in the semifinals. Egypt and Cameroon have played each other 26 times before, with the Pharaohs winning 15 of the matches and the Lions just five. Six of the matches ended in draws.
