East Bengal will play host to the Kerala Blasters in gameweek six of the Indian Super League on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently down in ninth place, while the visitors are fourth. After finishing in ninth place last term, East Bengal look as though they will be battling out this season in the bottom half again. They have managed four points in as many matches, though they do have a game in hand on the sides around them. The hosts lost their last league match 2-1 at home to Goa, which was their second consecutive defeat this season. They drew 0-0 to Jamshedpur and beat Hyderabad 2-1 in their two previous league games. The Red and Gold Brigade have played three home games this season, recording one win, one draw and one loss. They won the last meeting 1-0 against this opponent last season and are the marginal favourites in this match, despite their poor league ranking. 

In contrast, Kerala have carried their good form from last term into this season. They head into this match in fourth place in the league standings with ten points after five games. That leaves them just two points behind the current league leaders Mohun Bagan and one off Mumbai City in second place. The Yellow Army secured a solid 2-1 win over Odisha last week, marking their third victory this season. They have also drawn 1-1 against NorthEast United, and their only loss was to Mumbai City before the international break. Notably, that loss came in their only away game this season, while they are unbeaten at home.
