It has been a tough season for Arsenal in the Premier League and they will welcome this break to take part in the Europa League, where they have had relative comfort. Arsenal travel to Dublin to face Dundalk in the final round of group matches this Thursday with 15 points separating the two sides. While Arsenal have won all their five matches, to sit atop Group B, hosts Dundalk are bottom with no point so far. Dundalk did manage to see off Shamrock Rovers 4-2 in the Irish FA Cup in their last game before facing Arsenal and will hope they can carry this on to Europe. They have found themselves second best in each of their five matches in the group and have conceded three goals or more in the last four. Credit to them though for having scored in four of their five matches, even though they lost. It is only against Arsenal that they failed to score, losing 3-0 at the Emirates. Dundalk head to this game also struggling at home and have no win in the last five at Oriel Park, where they have conceded two or more goals in the last three matches. They have two wins in the last seven matches at home and have failed to score in three of their last five home matches. In the Europa League, apart from the poor form they have had this season, Dundalk have kept just one clean sheet in their last 11 matches and have one win in five Europa League matches at home.

Arsenal on the other hand, are coming from yet another loss in the Premier League, having fallen 2-0 to arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The loss left the Gunners on two wins in their last five matches and though they have already qualified, they will not take a loss or draw here. Both Arsenal and Dundalk will be playing for pride, as nothing can change their positions in the group, but for Arsenal, with the magnitude of losses in recent weeks, nothing but a win will calm supporters. They have four clean sheets in the last 10 matches, and none has come in the last three matches. Three of Arsenal’s last four matches have produced over 2.5 goals and they have five straight wins in the Europa League and scored two or more goals in the five matches. Arsenal have scored in each of their last 21 matches in the Europa League and in their five this season, they have scored 16 goals and conceded three. They are also unbeaten in their last six away matches in the competition.
