DR Congo will host Sudan on Saturday with both teams targeting to qualify for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. Both teams head into this final qualifier separated by three points with DR Congo top in Group I and Sudan fourth. DR Congo need to just avoid defeat here and they will secure a place in next year’s continental showpiece in Ivory Coast. Sebastien Desabre’s men have racked up nine points in the group from five matches and have a two-point cushion at the top. DR Congo have won their last three matches in the group after beginning the campaign with back-to-back defeats. They beat Gabon 2-0 last time out away from home. The Leopards were awarded all three points in a 3-0 win when Mauritania fielded an ineligible player against them in round four.

Sudan have to win here if they are to make it to back-to-back AFCON tournaments. As they won the reverse fixture at home, Zaki Badou’s charges will be confident of getting the job done. Sudan sit bottom in Group I with six points. A win will see them edge DR Congo on head-to-head points won. Sudan have lost both of their away fixtures in the group, conceding four goals and failing to score in either. Last time out in the competition, the Secretarybirds were thumped 3-0 at home by Mauritania. Sudan have struggled to win matches in recent fixtures and have lost four times in their last five outings. They have conceded three goals, three times in this run and have managed to score only twice.
