A spot in the second qualifying round against Finnish side KuPS awaits the winner of this tie. Derry City were able to secure a 0-0 draw away from home in the first leg. This has resulted in the bookmakers listing them as heavy favorites to progress to the next round. The hosts are in the middle of their domestic season where they are third after 25 matches. Derry City’s home defensive form could play a pivotal role in this game. The Candystripes have kept seven clean sheets and have allowed just seven goals in 13 home domestic fixtures this season. They’re scoring an average of 3.00 goals at home this campaign but only 1.63 average goals on the road. It’s likely we see HB struggle to get on the score sheet against this stingy Derry City defense in Ireland.
