Cardiff City faces an uphill battle in their effort to come off the bottom of the 2024-25 Championship standings as they travel to Derby County. This match will be played at the Pride Park Stadium in Derby on Saturday, with our prediction favoring the hosts to win.

The hosts are tenth in the standings with six points from two wins and losses apiece, while the visitors are bottom of the table with one point. Derby adjusted to the rigors of the championship in their first season back in the second tier with six points so far. They had wins over Middlesbrough (1-0) and Bristol City (3-0), while losses against Blackburn (4-2) and Watford (2-1) have set them back.

Interestingly, both the wins have come at home, and both were accompanied by a clean sheet—something which the Rams would be keen to emulate here. Cardiff is unlikely to put a spanner in those thoughts, at least on current form, as they travel here with shattered confidence. The Bluebirds are beaten 2-0 by Sunderland, 5-0 by Burnley, and 2-0 by Middlesbrough. The only saving grace is a 1-1 draw against local rivals Swansea, but that point wasn’t enough to lift them off the bottom of the standings.

That point came in their away match, so the visitors will hope to test Derby here. They have a strong record against Derby as well, winning the last three Championship matches against them, but those were back in the 2021/22 season.
