Derby missed out in the play-offs last season while Aston Villa were miserably relegated. Both have something to prove this season but neither side have made the best of starts and are in the bottom half of the table, definitely not where they want to be . A host of clubs have four points from their first three games and all are just three points off the league leader Brighton and Hove Albion, so plenty to play for and a couple of wins would really change the seasons of these two teams. Derby started off with a creditable 0-0 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion who have won all their subsequent games. Disappointment followed with a 2-0 loss at Barnsley before getting off the mark with a 1-0 win at Preston North End but they start this game in 17th place.  Villa also have four points from three games and are 11th in the table. Last season was totally miserable for them and it didn't start well this time around. An opening loss at Sheffield Wednesday was followed by elimination from the league cup by Luton Town. Form picked up when they played at home with a 3-0 win over Rotherham and a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield, there's still a lot of work to do if they want to get back into the Premier League at the first attempt. Derby have a good defence but are struggling for goals, a bet on under 2.5 goals in the game could pay dividends here.
