Denmark vs Tunisia Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Daniel Ngulu | in World Cup Predictions
Denmark will open their quest in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Group D with a game against Tunisia in Al Rayyan on Tuesday. The two nations didn’t play friendly matches in the run up to the competition in Qatar, and will be targeting a good start in a group that also has the defending champions France as well as Australia. While Tunisia go into this group as the underdogs, Denmark will feel this is the easiest of the matches they will get in the group. As such, the Danes will be gunning for a winning start. Both nations have registered three wins in their last five matches but Denmark have featured tougher opponents compared to Tunisia.

Denmark - Tunisia: Form Analysis
Denmark’s last game before this opening fixture was against the reigning world champions France, in which they would triumph 2-0 in their UEFA Nations League clash in September. That was their third win in a run of five matches and looking at the caliber of teams they’ve faced, it is easy to point out they are the stronger side here. In the last five matches, they’ve faced the two finalists of the 2018 World Cup while they’ve only failed to score in one of their last five matches. In three of the five games, they have scored two goals but they have just two clean sheets. It was Denmark's race to the 2022 World Cup that excited many; they secured qualification after the opening eight games – with eight wins and zero goals conceded. Denmark’s last participation in a major tournament saw them get to the semi finals at the 2020 European Championships. They fell 2-1 to England then, but after that they’ve won 11 of their last 15 matches. Tunisia, on the other hand, are coming into this game seeking recovery from their 5-1 defeat to Brazil in their most recent game – a friendly match in September. The North Africans’ loss was their first defeat in eight matches and they have eight clean sheets in the last 10 matches. Six times in the last 10 matches, Tunisia have registered wins but scored more than a goal in just three of the 10 games. Tunisia come into this game having beaten Chile and Japan in two of their recent matches, in a run that saw them go on to win the Kirin Cup. They will feel capable of standing up to the Danes here.

Denmark & Tunisia Squad Analysis
For Denmark, this game will come with an emotional connotation to it, as one of their senior players, Cristian Eriksen, marks a return to a major competition following the cardiac arrest that ended his participation in Euro 2020. Eriksen has had a good start to the season with Manchester United and will be a key member of the Danes’ World Cup campaign. Another key boost for Denmark will be the availability of defender Andreas Christensen. The Barcelona man recovered from an ankle injury and featured in the final rounds before the World Cup break and he is set to start this game. Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind will also be in line to feature here, despite missing the final round of Bundesliga matches ahead of the break. As for Tunisia, skipper Youssef Msakni will be hoping for full recovery ahead of this game after suffering an injury before the start of this competition. He missed the 2018 edition in a similar way and will be praying for better times here. Defender Omar Rekik isn’t so lucky though – he has already been ruled out, with a muscle injury picked in October. Ellyes Skhiri, one of Tunisia’s most capped players, could play with a face mask after returning recently from a cheek-bone injury.

Our Denmark vs Tunisia Prediction
Tunisia have a fantastic record in their recent matches, but then that is before we look at the caliber of opposition they’ve played. In their last outing, they faced a formidable Brazil and conceded five times. Denmark will be another strong opponent they have to contend with. Though the Danes are favorites, we don’t expect them to have an easy time. Still, with the quality in their squad, and without major injuries to worry about, we will back Denmark to win this game.
