Denmark vs Northern Ireland Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Steve Ashfield | in Euro Predictions
Denmark look to get their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign back on track. They host Northern Ireland on Friday June 16th and both countries have earned three points from their first two group games. Denmark are in second place in Group H, three points behind Slovenia and ahead of Khazakhstan, Finland and Northen Ireland who also have three points. As expected, San Marino prop up the group after two defeats. The Danes started the group with a 3-1 home win over Finland but then lost 3-2 in Khazakhstan. That was a hugely disappointing defeat as they went into the 73rd minute 2-0 ahead. They have ony won one of their last five games after a poor 2022 World Cup that saw them knocked out in the group stages. Those games were of course played in Qatar and they are a different propostion at home. Five goals have been scored in their two group games. Each one of them has been scored by Rasmus Hojlund who is the top scorer in the Euro qualifiers. Northern Ireland won 2-0 at San Marino but then lost 1-0 at home to Finland. They struggle on the road and will find this a difficult game.

Denmark - Northern Ireland: Form Analysis
Denmark will still be kicking themselves after not just giving away a lead in Kazakhstan but losing the match. Their away form is not good and that may well hinder them in what looks like being a tight battle to finish in the top two and qualify for the finals. Their is often more 'Danish Dynamite' shown on home soil. Eight of their last nine home games have been won and the Danes will be confident of another victory on Friday. They have already beaten Finland 3-1 at home in this group with Hojland scoring a hat-trick. The Red and Whites are unbeaten in their last eight home Euro qualifiers. They last suffered a defeat nine years at the hands of Portugal. Their last four home Euro qualifiers have seen them score 15 goals with two clean sheets.
Northern Ireland haven't played Denmark since 2007 and on that occasion beat their opponents. Of 11 previous games against Denmark that was only their second win, the other being way back in 1978. The Irish side wlll have been disappointed to lose 1-0 at home to Finland and another loss here won't help them at all. The last Euro championships saw them lose in the play-off round but lose here and they'll do well to get that far. They have only won two of their last nine internationals. Aside from the 2-0 win in San Marino, the only other win has been against Kosovo. Two of their last three games have seen them beaten. Away form is not great with four of the last seven lost with the only wins in Luxemborg and San Marino.
