The MLS enters Match Day 2 this weekend with one of the clashes lined up seeing DC United play host to Inter Miami. The two sides started their season with losses; DC United fell 2-1 to Colorado Rapids as Inter Miami suffered a 1-0 loss to Los Angeles FC. With their experience in the league, DC United will look at this as a game they should win and coming from an impressive performance in preseason, they will be the favorites here. They didn’t have the best of finishes to the MLS last season, failing to win any of their last three matches and opening with defeat will be hard to take as well. They won just three of their closing 10 MLS matches and after their loss to Colorado Rapids on the opening week, they are expected to rise in this game. Putting in account preseason friendlies, DC United have scored in each of their last five and we expect that they will be confident in attack against Inter Miami. However, they struggled a bit in front of goal in the opening MLS game before conceding late to lose the game, having taken the lead in the 60th minute. The defending will be an issue of concern for them too, having conceded in their last three, inclusive of preseason friendly matches.
Inter Miami, on the other hand, are still getting familiar with the league, this being their first season in existence. They started off with a 1-0 loss to LAFC, which is considered a respectable result, looking at the big gap in experience between the two sides. They will hope to make it better here against another side boasting of vast experience in the league too. They took part in the Suncoast Invitational tournament and won one of the two matches played but in their history, they have featured in just three matches and lost two.

The MLS is still a new terrain for Inter Miami, though they managed to keep the score line low in their first ever competitive game. They will be hoping to handle the DC United threat but we don’t expect them to trouble DC United, who created a sizeable amount of chances in the opening game. DC United’s experience should be enough to carry them above Inter Miami, and we will be going with a win for the home team.
