The new MLS season begins as DC United host last season's champions Atlanta United in the Eastern Conference. After a slow start last season, DC United finished fourth in the table buoyed by the arrival of Wayne Rooney. They went on to lose to Columbus Crew in the play-offs. The home side have added to their squad with the arrivall of Lucas Rodriguez and Leonardo Jara. Home form was the seccond best in the Eastern Conference last season with 13 wins.
Atlanta may have won the play-offs last season but they have lost their last three visits to DC United. They lost five away league games last season when finishing second in the Eastern Conference. The close season has seen Miguel Almiron and Tata Martino leave but they have signed Pity Martinez and Frank de Boer is now in charge. Hopefully he'll last longer than he did at Crystal Palace. This should be a great game to start the season and DC United can put home advantage to good use and get the home win.
