It’s a relegation six-pointer in Bundesliga as Darmstadt hosts Koln. This matchday 13 will be played at the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor in Darmstadt. Ahead of this round, the hosts are 15th with nine points and just a point above the bottom three while the visitors are 18th with six points and stuck to the basement. Darmstadt have struggled for impact but two successive draws ahead of this round gives hope. Those came in a goalless draw against Mainz and a 1-1 stalemate against Freiburg. They can temporarily move into the midtable and get some leeway over the relegation zone with a win, but they had posted just two victories this league campaign. Recent form at home isn’t hugely encouraging with two losses and a draw across three matches, although they would be keen to test themselves against the bottom club.

Koln have been struggling for sometime but starting this round only three points behind their hosts is a ray of hope. They have lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in the last round which made it two draws and losses each across the last four league games. It is their poor scoring record of nine goals that casts a shadow, although they will relish their chances against the worst defensive side of the division. It is their away form though, that weighs heavily against the visitors. They are yet to win on the road this league campaign while drawing two and losing four.
