This time last season Crystal Palace had lost three games and hadn't scored a goal. At least they have three points this time around but they have lost two out of three league games and another defeat here wouldn't look good at all. Their season got off to a good start with a 2-0 win at Premier League newcomers Fulham but that's their only win so far. Next up was a home game against Liverpool in which they put in an impressive performance but still lost 2-0. Another league defeat followed when they lost 2-1 at Watford. Good performances but just three points so a win here is really needed if they don't want another season looking over their shoulders.

Southampton struggled last season and only some good results under new boss Mark Hughes kept them in the Premier League. It's a struggle again so far this season with only one point from three league games and they start the weekend one place above the relegation zone. Their season began with a goalless draw at home to Burnley but just like Palace, their opening fixture is the only one in which they have managed to earn any points. A 2-1 defeat at Everton followed and then they lost by the same scoreline at home to Leicester City. Goals are again a problem for them and after the international break they travel to Liverpool and Wolves before hosting Chelsea. A defeat at Palace could see them stuck down at the bottom of the table for a fair while and that's the prediction for this game as Palace should be able to get the home win here.
