Crystal Palace start the game in 10th place but are only two points off sixth position in the table. They are showing signs of inconsistency in recent weeks though and have a few injuries to deal with at the moment. Recent games have seen them draw at home with Manchester United, win at Liverpool but then lose to a late goal at home to Sunderland. They had their chances to win that match though and they have a good chance of beating a poor Newcastle side. Steve McLaren continues to be under pressure at his new club and they are only a place outside the bottom three. They have only scored once in their last four league games and that was the 1-0 win at relegation threatened Bournemouth so hardly great form. Last week they lost at home to Leicester City 3-0, the latest in a series of heavy defeats this season. Away from home they've only managed four points, that win at Bournemouth and the surprise goalless draw at Old Trafford. Palace will be glad they haven't got a big team to play this week and can get some confidence back with a win over Newcastle.
