Crystal Palace have had another inconsistent season. They begin this final fixture in 13th place and host sixth placed Manchester United. Palace led 2-0 at Everton on Thursday but ended up losing 3-2. They could still finish in the top ten though but will need Brighton to lose and both Newcastle and Brentford not to win their final games. Palace have won six home Premier League games this season but only lost four. Turning some of their eight home draws into victories would see them comfortably in the top ten. Only 17 home league goals have been conceded this season, the fourth best in the league. They come into this match unbeaten in their last five home Premier League fixtures. However, only two of the last eight have been won with three draws. That defensive record of theirs has been boosted of late by four straight home clean sheets but keeping Manchester United out might not be easy.

Manchester United already know they won’t be in the Champions League next season. They are currently set to be in the 2022/23 Europa League but could end up in the Europa Conference League.  If seventh placed West Ham win at Brighton, then United will need a win at Selhurst Park due to their inferior goal difference. Their new boss will have a lot of work to do to get United back into title contention. Sorting out a defence that has conceded 56 goals will be the first target. Three of their last five league matches have been lost and their away form has collapsed. The last five in the Premier League have all ended in defeat with a shocking 16 goals conceded. When you let in four at Brighton, you know there’s rebuilding needed. Their last eight league visits to Selhurst Park have seen them win six and draw two. Go for tboth teams to score in this game.
