Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Daniel Ngulu | in Premier League Predictions
Chelsea’s top four ambitions will be on the line again when they return to Premier League action in an away match against Crystal Palace on Saturday. Hosts Crystal Palace go to this game placed 12th with 38 points and Chelsea fifth with 51 points. Palace are coming from a 1-1 draw with Everton, having salvaged a point late through Michy Batshuayi’s goal. The point earned moved them 12 points above the relegation zone and more of their focus for now will be on rising to the top half. The most important aspect about Palace’s game is that they’ve been improving defensively, and have conceded more than one goal in just one of the last six matches. They head here with three clean sheets in the last five matches but have also not scored more than a goal in the last five matches. At home, while they have three straight clean sheets, they’ll need much improvement in attack, having scored one goal in the last four. Palace have five wins, five draws and as many losses in their 15 league matches at home but head to head, they’ve suffered six straight losses against Chelsea.
Chelsea had the right response to their 5-2 loss to West Brom in their Champions League encounter with FC Porto. They were superb as they ran out 2-0 winners in Seville and now the task is to show the same in the Premier League, and a London Derby. Matches against Palace have been easy for Chelsea; the last time they met, the Blues went on to win 4-0. Ben Chilwell opened the scoring then, and he heads here having scored his first Champions League goal thus will be very confident, just what Chelsea will want in their defence after the West Brom loss. The Blues haven’t scored more than two goals under new man Thomas Tuchel, who had a 14-game unbeaten run before the West Brom game. They are the lowest scorers in the top seven but have the second best defence in the league. Chelsea head here with four clean sheets in the last five matches, having scored twice in each of the last four matches across all competitions. In the league, they’ll be seeking a first win in two and will be glad playing away from home where they’re unbeaten in the last five league matches, with three wins and three clean sheets. However, they’ve scored more than a goal in just one of their last 10 away league matches and have seven wins in the 15 played. The visitors will be without defender Thiago Silva, who was sent off in their last league game.

Our Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Prediction
Chelsea gave the perfect response to their weekend loss in midweek and they’ll be looking to replicate that against a well-rested team. The Blues will have the needed quality, without doubt, but the element of fatigue can’t be ignored. Both teams haven’t been scoring a lot of goals lately and save for their recent losses, they haven’t been conceding a lot too. Under 2.5 goals would be a good pick here.
