Crystal Palace come into this match having lost only once in their last eight Premier League fixtures. During that time, the Eagles registered 13 points thanks to three victories and four draws.
Most recently, Palace came from behind at Selhurst Park to secure all three points in a 2-1 win over bottom-feeders Southampton. The result marked only the second win of the season for Palace on their home turf across all competitions and their first home win since the end of October.
A string of defeats and dropped points has Chelsea’s title hopes hanging on by a thread.
The Blues were flying high heading into the final week of December after winning eight straight matches across all competitions and scoring 26 goals in the process.
However, a disappointing stretch of results against teams that the Blues were heavily favored against shows why there are no easy games in the English top flight.
Enzo Maresca’s side would be held to a goalless draw away at Everton before suffering back-to-back defeats. The first came by way of a 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge to Fulham and, most recently, a 2-0 away defeat to Ipswich Town this past Monday.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner doesn’t have a lengthy injury list to worry about ahead of Saturday’s showdown.
Currently, only two players are listed as out: Matheus Franca and Adam Wharton. Franca is recovering from a broken rib while Wharton is out with a groin injury.
Eberechi Eze scored the winning goal in the 2-1 comeback victory over Southampton.
The hosts will look to their number 10 to provide the creative spark. Eze has only registered two goals and two assists in 15 outings but should be high in confidence after his winning goal at the weekend.
As for Chelsea, manager Enzo Maresca has a few more injuries to cope with. He’ll be without the French center back duo of Benoît Badiashile and Wesley Fofana, who will miss out with a muscle injury and hamstring problem, respectively.
Elsewhere, talented young midfielder Romeo Lavia is also expected to be unavailable due to a hamstring injury, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is also a doubt.
