Both Crystal Palace and Aston Villa will be playing for a top half finish when they face off at Selhurst Park on Sunday. Hosts Palace go to the game placed 13th with 41 points, eight below 11th placed Villa. Palace have had a poor season and calls for the replacement of manager Roy Hodgson haven’t been a surprise at all. They go to this game straight from a 3-1 loss away to Southampton, their fourth defeat in five matches. Their only wins in the last 10 matches have come against the bottom two sides and in those matches only have they managed clean sheets in the last eight. From a possible 30 points in the last 10 league matches, Palace have secured nine and seven have been against the bottom three teams. In their last five matches they’ve conceded two or more goals in four, but failed to score in just one. Palace haven’t managed more than a goal in their last seven home matches; they’ve failed to score completely in four.

Aston Villa are coming from a 0-0 draw with Everton, which marked a second winless outing for the side after their earlier 3-1 loss to Manchester United. In their last game, skipper Jack Grealish made his long-awaited return after sitting out with a shin injury since February. He rose from the bench and after finishing without any trouble, should be good to start in the Palace game. Villa will also have top scorer Ollie Watkins returning after suspension, having been sent off in the loss to Manchester United. The team goes to this clash on just a win in their last six matches and one clean sheet in nine. Their only wins in the last 11 league matches came against Everton and relegated side Fulham, and in their last six, they’ve conceded two or more in four matches. Six of Villa’s last seven matches have seen over 2.5 goals scored and though Villa have on most occasions been on the receiving end, the return of Grealish and Watkins availability could turn the tide in their favor.
