Mikel Arteta faces another stern test in the Premier League this weekend when his Arsenal side travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace. After taking one point from the first six available to him, Arteta has guided the Gunners to victories over Manchester United in the Premier League and Leeds United in the FA Cup. While they're currently enjoying a new manager bounce, Arsenal appointed Arteta with a view to developing a long-term project at the Emirates. A protegé of Pep Guardiola, Arteta's education has been evident in the early days of his first senior managerial role. Arsenal have passed slicker and shown better movement in the final third. Yet, despite keeping two successive clean sheets, their defense looks vulnerable to determined attacking.
Leeds will count themselves unlucky to have been defeated on Monday after having 18 shots on goal. They highlighted the fact that the weaknesses in Arsenal's defense which have blighted their season are still present. The creative force for Palace will as ever be Wilfried Zaha down the left flank. Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been one of Arsenal's better full-backs this season but will have his hands full. Palace, who are ninth in the table, one point above the Gunners in tenth, will believe that they can get a win here. With big forwards who can test vulnerable defenders like Sokratis and David Luiz, we expect a physical battle. With four of their last six Premier League matches ending in draws, we see this being another stalemate for a hard-to-beat Palace side.
