Cruzeiro will will be at home in their next Brazilian Serie A game against a struggling Cuiaba. The hosts are currently fifth in the standings while Cuiaba are third from bottom, both with a game in hand. Cruzeiro will seek to tie second-placed Palmeiras at 15 points with a win in this match. Pepa’s charges couldn’t have wished for a better start in their topflight return after spending three seasons in Serie B. They’ve won four of their six matches, and beat America Mineiro, another struggling team, 4-0 in their last league game. Cruzeiro however come to this match after drawing 1-1 with Gremio in the Copa do Brasil. Of the promoted four teams Cruzeiro are the only ones in the top 10 so far. Key to their positive start has been their home form where three of their wins have come. They however lost their last home match, going 2-0 down to Fluminense.

Cuiaba have never lost to Cruzeiro, winning one and drawing the other of the two matches they have played. This was however back in 2020, the year they secured promotion to the Serie A. Though the shoe is on the other foot in terms of form now, they will hope to maintain this record. Antonio Oliveira’s charges have managed one win from their six matches and have lost four times. This woeful start to the season has them in the relegation zone, in 18th place with four points. A win on Tuesday will claw them out of the drop zone and into at least 15th place depending on the score line. Cuiaba come to this match having lost their last two matches without scoring. They lost 2-0 last time out to Fluminense. Poor starts to their matches means they’ve trailed at half time in each of their last three matches. They haven't scored a first half goal either, in any of their last three matches.
