Crotone are on the brink of relegation from the Italian Serie A and that could happen this weekend, when they play host to Inter Milan. The two sides are fighting on opposite ends of the league table. Crotone at the bottom seeking survival, and currently on 18 points, while Inter are top with 79 and need just five points from the remaining five matches to be crowned champions. Crotone ensured they live another day, with a 4-3 win over Parma in their last game but after suffering 25 losses in the league this season, they are the least likely to survive. A ray of hope at the team has been Nigerian forward Simeone Nwankwo, who has scored 19 goals in Serie A this season. He scored twice as they edged Parma, to hit six goals in five matches, and will be on show against the league leaders again. Crotone’s last two wins have been against Torino and Parma, both sides in the bottom six, and these remain their only wins in the last 15 league matches. Each of the remaining 13 ended in defeat, and at home, in Serie A, they’ve lost six of their last seven league matches.

Inter Milan are on the verge of winning their first league title since 2010. With Atalanta facing a tough Sassuolo this weekend, Inter could win the title if Atalanta drop points; otherwise, it remains in their hands and they need five points. After two straight draws, against Napoli and Spezia, Inter returned to winning ways with another slim win, against Hellas Verona. The past few matches have been a struggle for the league leaders, and they’ve failed to score more than a goal in them. Their seven wins in the last nine matches have been by one-goal margins and lead scorer Romelu Lukaku has now failed to score in their last four matches. They have two clean sheets in the last five matches. Away from home, Inter are unbeaten in the last nine, with five wins in there, but the last two were draws.
