The Checkered Ones were the UEFA Nations League runners-up in 2022/23 and finished second in their group behind Portugal. As you will read in the form section of this preview, they have been struggling to get wins in recent months but are difficult to beat on home soil.

Croatia & France Squad Analysis
Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic is looking forward to this Nations League match and is happy with the squad he has chosen. The returns of Josip Stanisic and Josip Juranovic has given him hope of a good performance in this first leg.
He also believes that both Franjo Ivanovic and Toni Fruk are "consistently playing well" and they deserve their chance to be named in his squad. It's not certain either will start but Dalic says their inclusion contributes to "the competitive spirit within the squad.
France will be without Inter Milan's Marcus Thuram. He has injured his left ankle and had to withdraw from the squad.
