Croatia - Brazil: Form Analysis
Croatia is among the four teams at this stage without a loss in the four matches they’ve played in this competition. However, they had to go all the way to extra time and a penalty shootout to claim the win against Japan and a place in the quarter finals. They came from a goal down to end the 90 minutes and extra time at 1-1, where they would ultimately prevail in the shootout against the Japanese. While they are unbeaten in this competition, Croatia have managed just one win inside 90 minutes – a 4-1 win over Canada. They’ve kept two clean sheets in the four matches played and the win over Canada was the only time they scored more than a goal, with three of their four matches producing under 2.5 goals. Scoring has clearly not been their strongest point in this World Cup; they have failed to score in two of their four matches. In Croatia’s two matches that have had goals, they conceded first. This run is consistent with their performances in previous World Cup matches, where they conceded first in six of eight matches. Croatia may not have a profile as big as Brazil’s but one thing they bring here is that they are hard to beat. In their last 20 matches since elimination from Euro 2020 by the Czech Republic, they have suffered just one loss (to Austria), yet only three of the 20 games were friendly matches – against Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria and Slovenia. In seven of their last eight knockout matches, Croatia haven’t lost in normal time; during this run, their only loss inside 90 minutes in a knockout game was against France in the 2018 World Cup. In their last five matches ahead of this fixture they scored six goals, four of them coming in the second half. While Croatia are targeting a third appearance in a World Cup semi final, Brazil, are looking to appear in the semis for a ninth time in their history. Coming into this game, Brazil have three wins in the four matches played at this competition, with two clean sheets, but scored more than a goal in just two of the four. Three of their four matches in this competition have produced under 2.5 goals. The only game that has exceeded two goals was their most recent, a 4-1 win over Korea Republic, a game in which they scored all goals in the first half. This was also the only game they managed to score in the first half at Qatar 2022.

Croatia & Brazil Squad Analysis
Croatia will hope to welcome back Borna Sosa, who missed the win over Japan due to an infection, but reports from the team indicate he will be available for this game and is in contention for a start. Croatia will however be sweating on the fitness of Josip Stamisic who was also absent for the Japan game as he nursed a muscular strain. As for Brazil, their squad is already trimmed downwards with the confirmed unavailability of Alex Telles and Gabriel Jesus. These two are out of the competition completely and Jesus has already undergone knee surgery after his injury in the loss to Cameroon. Brazil will however hope that Alex Sandro, who has now missed two matches, recovers in time to feature here. One man in focus for Brazil will be Richarlison. The Tottenham Hotspur forward has been in tremendous form, and has already scored three times in the current competition. In 2022, he has played nine matches for Brazil and scored 10 goals, a tally that is four more goals than any other player in the team. Neymar Jr will also be a crucial player for Brazil; after missing two matches, he returned and scored against Korea. His goal was the sixth straight from the penalty spot, and his goal involvement has been impressive. In their last 11 appearances, Neymar has been involved in 15 goals for Brazil, a total of eight goals and seven assists.

Our Croatia vs Brazil Prediction
One of the biggest qualities that Croatia bring into this game is that they are tough to beat and they will surely offer Brazil a stiff challenge. However, they have only one win in normal time in this competition and this may work against them when facing a team of Brazil’s caliber. A lot has been said about Croatia’s knack to see off knockout games but they often concede the first goal, as it has been in two of their four matches in Qatar and in six of eight World Cup games. Croatia plays here as the underdogs. Our prediction for Croatia – Brazil: Brazil to score first.
