15th-place Coventry City will look to continue with their resurgence when they host fourth-place Southampton for matchday 21 of the English Championship. After an ugly 3-7-6 start to the season, Coventry have now managed to double their victory tally in the last two weeks. A streak of three wins from their last four league fixtures has the Sky Blues within striking distance of the top-half as they try to salvage the campaign. Their most recent appearance resulted in a 2-0 home win over Birmingham, making it two straight victories at the CBS Arena. Coventry have also improved their home record to 4-5-1 on the season with their only defeat coming at the hands of West Brom. Most impressive for Coventry during their recent purple patch has been their renewed defensive solidity. Mark Robins’ side has kept a clean sheet in four of their last five overall including a ‘win to nil’ in all three of their recent victories.

Southampton are the current holders of the division’s longest unbeaten run which now sits at 12 matches. The Saints were denied all three points in their most recent fixture against Watford on the weekend, conceding a heartbreaking stoppage time goal to settle for a 1-1 away draw. The stalemate put a stop to Southampton’s winning run after picking up back-to-back home victories over Bristol City and Cardiff. The recent run has Russell Martin’s side up to fourth in the standings and sitting three points behind third-place Leeds. They have some work still to do if they are to challenge for an automatic promotion spot, however, as the Saints trail second-place Ipswich by 10 points and leaders Leicester City by 11. While Southampton possess a strong away record of 5-3-2, they’ve now failed to secure a win in three of their last four away trips. They come into this matchup as slight favorites against the upward trending hosts.
