Cordoba welcome Sevilla in the first round of the Copa Del Rey at the Estadio Nuevo Arcangel. The hosts made their way to the first round as they were one of the four semi-finalists of the Copa Federacion de Espana while the visitors enter the competition from La Liga. Cordoba come into the game with a 3-0 win over Merida in the Segunda Division B. They have now lost just once in their last eight matches with the other seven games being all three points against sides in the Spanish lower leagues. Cordoba have scored the second-highest number of goals in their group in the Segunda Division B and are a confident side at home. They also have had over 2.5 goals in three out of their last six matches since most of their matches have been high scoring draws.

Sevilla come into the game with a slender 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid in La Liga. This was their first defeat in four years as Sevilla find themselves at fourth position in the La Liga. They are doing fairly well in the league and have had over 2.5 goals in five out of their last eight matches. Much like Cordoba, Sevilla also have been amongst high scoring matches, just managing three clean sheets in their last eight matches. It is also to be noted that the two teams will play each other for the first time in an official competition.
