After eight matches in the MLS season, two sides that have gotten off to contrasting starts this season will do battle when the Colorado Rapids play host to St Louis City at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Sunday. The hosts currently sit in 11th place in the Western Conference standings with 7 points, three points behind the Houston Dynamos’ in seventh place and four points above Galaxy and Sporting KC at the foot of the table. Colorado have been unable to find any sort of rhythm yet this season, and after playing out a 2-2 draw against Charlotte in their last match, the hosts now hold a record of just one win in their first eight matches, along with four draws and three losses. The Rapids are yet to register a win on home soil this term, having drawn two and lost one of their first three matches at home. These sides have never met in the MLS before, but the hosts will know that they have a match on their hands. 

St Louis City have started the season better than the rest in the Western Conference, currently leading the way after eight matches. The visitors have taken 18 of a possible 24 points so far this season with a record of six wins and two losses, scoring 20 goals and conceding nine to date. St Louis City won their last match 5-1 against the Eastern Conference leaders, Cincinnati, which saw them move a point clear of LAFC, who are in second place. St Louis City have won three and lost one of their four away matches so far but have looked dangerous each time they’ve played and look like they are able to score in bulk when on song. The visitors will likely come out of the block's hard and try to silence the away crowd with an early goal. If they are able to accomplish that, St Louis City should go on to win this one comfortably.
