Colombia vs Chile Prediction & Betting Tips - Copa America
by Donal Kearns | in Copa America Predictions
No side has started the Copa America as well as Colombia so far. They were able to top a group containing Argentina and the reigning champions of Asia, but they’ve not been rewarded for their perfect opening. They have landed a clash with Chile in the quarter-finals, which is easily the tie of the round. Can Colombia continue to thrill in Brazil, or will the reigning champions come out on top this weekend? Colombia have made impressive strides at this tournament, but they remain fourth favourites following this draw. Going on odds to win the tournament overall, this is the closest of any of the ties, with Chile narrowly behind as the fifth favourites for the trophy. However, Colombia are a team to fear, while they will be aiming to go all the way before they test themselves against the back to back champions of South America. Chile were able to win this competition in 2015 and 2016, but their hopes of a hat-trick are fading. They’ve got an experienced squad, but their team is past its prime. They missed out of the 2018 World Cup, which seemingly marked the turndown for the Chileans. Their group displays weren’t entirely impressive, as they lost their final clash 1-0 to Uruguay which left them in second place in Group C. Can the champions return to form this weekend? That defeat left Chile in trouble, as they are the outsiders going into this meeting with Colombia. While they were able to see off Ecuador and Japan, their limitations showed against Uruguay. The Chileans struggled against the USA and Mexico in friendlies back in March, while we see them having a tough time in this game. They’ve let this side linger for a little too long, while Colombia are peaking at the perfect time to pull off success in Brazil this summer.

Our Colombia vs Chile Prediction
Colombia have won all three of their Copa America games without conceding a goal, showing that they’re not just a strong side in attack. While Chile coming off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Uruguay, we think that Colombia are worthy favourites to win this big clash in the quarter-finals. The Colombians have won their last five games across June, each of those victories has come without their defence conceding. With that great form behind them, we are backing them to book a semi-final spot. Colombia to win this clash in Sao Paulo is our prediction.
