Chile won this tournament last year, the latest of many host nations to win the Copa America. Now in the USA they are two games away from retaining their title. I'm prepared to accept when I'm wrong and it was my belief that Chile wouldn't get past the in-form Mexican side. It was fairly staggering then when I woke up and discovered that Chile had thrashed Mexico 7-0 in their quarter final. This was a side that only beat Bolivia thanks to a 100th minute injury time goal and went behind to Panama. But thanks to four goals from Eduardo Vargas they achieved that incredible result against the Mexicans. Not bad considering a minute before half-time it was still only 1-0. That win is bound to do wonders for their confidence. They take on Colombia now who struggled to get past Peru in the quarter finals. It was 0-0 leading to a Colombian win in a penalty shoot-out. Colombia beat the USA in their opening fixture then struggled against Paraguay and put out a weakened side that lost to Costa Rica. Chile have the momentum and can get a win here to more than likely set up a repeat of last year's final against Argentina.
