Fifth placed Club Brugge host runaway Jupiler League leaders Union Saint-Gilloise on Boxing Day. The home side had an excellent 6-1 away win at RWDM with Igor Thiago scoring a hat-trick. That was their third straight win in all competitons with 11 goals scored. Brugge are unbeaten in their last ten matches since losing the reverse fixture against Union Saint-Gillioise in early November. They really need to win this game as Brugge go into it 14 points behind their opponents. Home form has seen Brugge unbeaten in the Jupiler League this season with five wins and four draws so far.  Each of their last four home league and cup games have ended in victory.

Union Saint-Gilloise lead the Belgian Jupiler League by 11 points from Anderlecht after the first 19 games of the season. They have won 15 league games so far this term and won 2-1 at Eupen on Saturday. That was their sixth win in a row and that includes beating Liverpool at home in the Europa League. Union have been dominant on the road in the Belgian Jupiler League this season with seven out of nine games being won. Their only away league defeat came at Mechelen in August. Six out of seven have been won since then but both teams have found the back of the net in each of the last four played.
