Danish side Aarhus will travel to Belgium to take on Club Brugge in the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League. This first leg encounter marks the opening game of the season for Club Brugge. The Belgians didn’t particularly wrap up their preseason in style, losing 2-1 to AZ Alkmaar. It has been a shaky preseason for Club Brugge, losing three of their five prep matches. They also failed to score in two of the five and conceded more than a goal in two of three. There is a lot to correct for Rik de Mil coming into the season, and majorly it will be in defence. De Mil’s charges managed just one clean sheet in the five preseason matches. Three of their last four matches in preseason ended with over 2.5 goals. The hosts are also dealing with a home run that has three losses in four.

Aarhus had a good preseason, and seem to be in good shape coming to this game. They opened their season with a 1-0 win over Velje in the Danish league. That was their third win in four matches, inclusive of their preseason engagements. The Danish side has three clean sheets in four games and hasn’t lost in seven. Their only defeat in 12 games came in May, falling 4-3 to FC Copenhagen. Having scored in all but one of the last five matches will build their confidence coming into this game. The visitors are playing their first Conference League game since 2021. Back then they were eliminated at this same stage by Northern Ireland side, Larne. This time they will target going a step further. Aarhus will further bank on an away run that has them on four unbeaten games, two of those being wins.
