Clermont vs Strasbourg Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

Clermont will be looking to claw themselves out of the French Ligue 1 relegation zone when they host Strasbourg next. While Strasbourg are ninth going into this game, Clermont are two points below safety. The hosts will be desperate for a win here, having shown signs of improvement in recent weeks. This will be the season meeting with Strasbourg in a week; these two sides faced off in the last round of the French Cup. Strasbourg easily eliminated Clermont after a 3-1 win. Mehdi Zeffane’s 88th minute goal against Strasbourg came a little too late, with Clermont trailing 3-0 then. They beat Nantes 2-1 in their last league game, courtesy of goals from Shamar Nicholson and Jim Allevina’s goals. Clermont will thus go in search of their first back-to-back wins in the league this season. Four defeats in their last seven league matches will however not be the inspiration they need here. In their last four home matches, Clermont have no win, losing three and failing to score in two.

Strasbourg had an easy outing last time out, beating Clermont 3-1 with goals from Abakar Sylla, Mohammadou Diarra and Dilane Bakwa. The plan now is to bounce back in the league, having drawn 1-1 with Marseille last time out. In beating Clermont in their last game, Strasbourg registered their fifth win in six matches. Les Bleu et Blanc have scored at least twice in each of those wins. Meanwhile, they failed to score in just one of their last 10 games. With this run, it will be hard to argue against the visitors’ placing as the favorites here. They have suffered just one loss in their last 11 matches across all competitions. Patrick Vieira’s charges have also done well away from home in recent times, winning three of the last four matches on the road. They haven’t lost any of their last five away matches. Having beaten Clermont three times in the last six meetings, and being unbeaten in the remaining three, Strasbourg will be very confident here.
