Clermont vs PSG Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

PSG bounced back from their recent slump with a thumping 5-1 win over Lorient and will be looking to move closer to another Ligue 1 title when they travel to the Stade Gabriel Montpied to face Clermont. Hosts Clermont go into this game placed 17th with 28 points and will be hoping to shock PSG, who are top of the table with 68 points. Clermont are coming from their fourth straight defeat, a 3-2 home loss to Nantes. They’ve now conceded two or more goals in each of their last four matches, failed to score in two and they have no clean sheet in their last five matches. Three of their last four matches have ended in over 2.5 goals and they’ve conceded a total of 13 goals in their last five matches. It is a very poor run to be in ahead of a game against the league leaders, and especially when placed just a point above the relegation playoff zone.

PSG thrashed Lorient 5-1 in their last game, just the response every one of their fans would have wished for after that humiliating 3-0 loss to Monaco in the earlier game. The best part of it is that their big-name forwards, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi were all on the score sheet. PSG haven’t had a smooth run coming to this game; they’ve lost three times in the last five and it has particularly been bad away from home. They have four straight away losses but that is after playing some of the best teams around. Going into this game they will have all focus on three points as they edge closer to reclaiming the league title. They are already 12 points ahead of their closest challengers, Marseille and with eight games to go, they want to wrap this up as soon as possible. In the only meeting pitting these two sides, in September 2021, PSG completely dominated Clermont, scoring twice in each half in a 4-0 rout at the Parc des Princes. We don’t expect much difference from that here.
