Ninth-place Chile will look to kick-start their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign when they play host to eighth-placed Bolivia on Tuesday afternoon. Let’s get into the match prediction with La Roja and La Verde both in desperate need of three points.

It’s been a difficult year for Chile who crashed out of the Copa America without scoring a single goal over the summer. With only a single win to show from seven qualifying matches played, the 2015 and 2016 Copa America champions sit only two points above rock-bottom Peru.

Chile suffered a 3-0 away defeat to world champions Argentina in their last outing, with all three goals coming in the second 45 minutes. The loss extended Chile’s winless run to four games and moved them to a 1-2-4 record in qualifying. 

A total of five points sees the Chileans trailing automatic qualification by three points and puts them one point behind Paraguay (seventh-place) for a spot in the intercontinental playoff. 

Bolivia were able to capitalize on the thin air in the extreme altitude of El Alto in their last home outing. They battered Venezuela 4-0 to earn their second victory of the qualifying campaign, both coming on home soil. It was a much-needed result as it snapped a six-game losing streak for La Verde.

The win moved the Bolivians six points and has them even on points with Paraguay (trailing on goal differential) for a spot in the playoff. 

Away from home has been a completely different story for Bolivia, as is the trend with their team over the years. They’ve lost all three away trips so far, scoring only once while conceding 10 goals.
