Chelsea have been inconsistent in recent times and a top three place that seemed guaranteed is now in doubt. They will host Wolverhampton Wanderers in their next league game and going into the game, they are third with 66 points, while Wolves have 49 points in eighth place. Chelsea are smarting from a shock 1-0 loss to relegation threatened Everton, which left them just three points above fourth placed Arsenal. Two wins in the last six matches have dented their run in the league and now they have just the FA Cup to fight for. They however have a good scoring run, failing to score in just one of their last 10 matches. They have no win in three straight games against Wolves and will need some improvement here.

Wolves haven’t lost to Chelsea in the last three meetings; the last two have produced 0-0 draws and earlier a 2-1 win. They will need a lot of that here, as they head into this game on a very poor run – three straight losses. The visitors have failed to score in the last three matches and in their last 10 matches they have seven losses. Ahead of this game, Wolves suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Brighton, the second time in five that they conceded three goals. A team that earlier in the season was regarded one of the best defensively, Wolves go into this game without a clean sheet in five matches, and just two in 10. Away from home, Wolves haven’t scored more than a goal in the last five matches; they’ve failed to score completely in three of those five.
