Chelsea are coming from a 4-2 loss to Arsenal, a shock defeat that deflated the slim title chances they might have had and they will be seeking a rise when they host West Ham United in the Premier League. Going into this game the Blues, placed third have managed 62 points while West Ham United have 52 in seventh place. Chelsea aren’t at risk of dropping below third place as yet, but they may just have been pushed off the title race after their recent performances. In the league thus, they will feel they don’t have much to play for. However, Thomas Tuchel will want a response after the defeat at home to Arsenal and Chelsea will be charged for this. Defensively, they haven’t done so well; they have two clean sheets in the last six games and in that run, they’ve conceded two or more goals in four. The Blues have however notched two or more goals in each of their last four matches. Both teams have scored in four of their last six matches, and with three straight defeats at home, the Blues will be fired up here, looking to lift the home fans’ spirits.

West Ham United are still in the frame for a top four place as their chase for Champions League football continues. They are also still in the Europa League and that is another avenue for Champions League football and they will be out for three points here. The Hammers find a wounded Chelsea side and it means they have to be at their best. The recent matches haven’t offered the best results for West Ham; they have one win in the last four matches and one clean sheet in five games. Both teams have scored in four of the Hammers’ last five league matches and their away run isn’t so good, West Ham having failed to keep a clean sheet in the last eight on the road in the league. They are winless in the last five league matches and have lost four of them.
