Chelsea - Real Madrid: Form Analysis
Chelsea need to show a massive improvement in form to get back into this Champions League tie. The return of Frank Lampard has so far produced three successive defeats and just one goal. Saturday saw them lose 2-1 at home to Brighton and that's left them in 11th place. Their only chance of European competition next season is to win the 2022/23 Champions League, so they look like having plenty of free time in midweeks next season. The Blues have gone six games without a win and just one goal in the last five played. Home form has seen Chelsea win two and draw two of their last four games. Champions League form has produced three wins and a draw since being beaten by Real Madrid last season.
Real Madrid are second in La Liga but ten points behind Barcelona at the time of writing this preview. Their most recent game saw them win 2-0 at Cadiz, their second straight win by that scoreline. Four of their last five games have been won, the other a 3-2 home loss to Villarreal. Their last seven away matches has seen just one game lost and that was at Barcelona. Their last four Champions League games have all been won with 13 goals scored. All four matches were against British sides with Celtic and Liverpool also being beaten. Away form has seen three of their last five Champions League games won.

Chelsea & Real Madrid Squad Analysis
Chelsea will be without defender Ben Chilwell who was sent off in last week's first leg. Out injured is Kalidou Koulibaly who injured a hamstring at the Bernabeu. There are doubts over the fitness of Kai Havertz, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Armando Broja. Expected back in the starting line-up are N'Golo Kante and Thiago Silva who were rested for the home loss to Brighton on Saturday. Real Madrid were without Vinicius Junior and Toni Kroos at the weekend but both are likely to be fit for this second leg. Ferland Mendy is not expected to be fit for this match.
