Chelsea vs Porto Prediction & Betting Tips - Champions League
by Nella Wagah | in Champions League Predictions
Chelsea returned to Premier League action with a resounding 4-1 win over Crystal palace and will be looking to complete the job at home to Porto in the Champions League quarters after the 2-0 away win. It will be more of an away game for the Blues, playing in Seville but they are used to these conditions now, having last lost an away game in January. The team beat Crystal Palace 4-1 on Saturday, scoring more than two goals for the first time in new coach Thomas Tuchel’s 17 matches in charge. The Blues have been very prolific in attack and head here having netted at least twice in the last five matches. After scoring the crucial first goal in the 2-0 win over Porto, Mason Mount was instrumental again in the win over Palace. Though he didn’t score, he had a hand in two of the four goals and his performance as they return to Seville will be key for the Englishmen. This season they’re unbeaten in the Champions League, registering seven wins and two draws, and have scored in each of the last eight. Out of the nine matches, Chelsea have seven clean sheets.
Porto are also coming from a win in Primeira Liga. They beat Tondela 2-0 and will be in high spirits heading back to Spain for this game. In the first leg, Porto missed two key men on suspension – their lead scorers Mehdi Taremi and Sergio Oliveira. The two are expected to change how Porto approach this game, having scored 34 goals combined this season. Taremi returned with a goal, having started the Tondela game on the bench – he needed just nine minutes to score the second of the day. In the first leg, Moussa Marega struggled upfront without the duo’s support and the three are all expected to start as Porto throws everything at Chelsea. Porto have scored twice in eight of their last 10 matches and this is the form they’ll hope to carry to this game, as they need at least a 2-0 win to advance. However, they’ve kept only three clean sheets in the eight matches they’ve scored twice, and have no clean sheet in the last three Champions League matches, losing the last two. In six of their last seven Champions League matches, Porto have scored two or more goals and they have three wins in the last five matches in the competition.

Our Chelsea vs Porto Prediction
Porto are expected to throw everything in attack in this game, and Marega, Oliveira and Taremi are all expected to start. They will be cautious however, not to sacrifice much in defence and perhaps it is the reason Chancel Mbemba was rested against Tondela. The Portuguese giants need to score at least two and keep a clean sheet. Against this Chelsea side it will be tough looking at the Blues’ figures in attack, and with Porto expected to push forward from the start, Chelsea may surprise them. Go for a draw in this game, with both sides scoring.
