Chelsea vs Palmeiras Prediction & Betting Tips - FIFA Club World Cup

For the second time in their history, Chelsea will be playing in the Club World Cup final. This time they face Brazilian side Palmeiras, the champions of South America. The Club World Cup is the only trophy missing from Chelsea's cabinet since Roman Abramovich took over at the club. The Blues, champions of Europe, have been on a fine run and will go to this game as favorites to win it. In their last appearance at this stage, Chelsea fell to another Brazilian side, Corinthians, and this time they will hope to do better. They beat Al Hilal 1-0 in the semi finals, courtesy of Romelu Lukaku’s goal, to book their slot here. The Blues haven’t been scoring a lot of goals but in recent times they’ve done just enough to get what they need from their matches. Only one of their last five matches has produced over 2.5 goals, but they’ve scored twice in two of the last three matches and they have two clean sheets too in the last five matches.

Palmeiras haven’t played a lot of competitive matches lately. They beat African champions Al Ahly 2-0 in the semi finals to get to this stage but before then, they had only played in the Paulista A1 back in Brazil. The last time they played competitively was on 10th December, beating Ceara 1-0 in the Brazilian Serie A. By then Palmeiras had already bagged their second straight Copa Libertadores title, courtesy of a 2-1 win in extra time against Flamengo. Ahead of this game, Palmeiras are unbeaten in their last 10 matches, with seven wins, and six clean sheets. In their last five matches, only one game has produced over 2.5 goals and while they haven’t faced opposition as tough as Chelsea, nothing can take away the fact that the Brazilians have been great defensively. Gustavo Gomez, the skipper has marshaled the defence well, and will not be fazed by the prospect of facing Chelsea, having played for AC Milan before moving to Brazil. Goalkeeper Weverton, capped seven times for Brazil, will also be a key component for Palmeiras in defence.
