The top placed team in the Premier League standings, Chelsea is set to host the bottom placed side, Norwich, in the ninth round of matches in the league. Chelsea go to the game having garnered 19 points, 17 better than Norwich’s tally. The Blues have the most wins in the league so far (6) and have the joint best defence, having conceded three goals. Chelsea are coming from a 4-0 win over Malmo, a much easier game than Brentford in their earlier league match. However, the victory came at a cost as Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku were forced off with injuries. The Blues should still have enough quality in attack to replace the duo though, and they have a good run at home to lift them. They’ve won each of the last three home matches and this will be the second of three straight home games. This season they’ve played seven home games, and won five. In the league, they’ve only lost at home to Manchester City in the last five games, the other four ended in wins, and two clean sheets. Chelsea have scored two or more goals in five of their eight league games.

Norwich have had some semblance of stability in their last two games, drawing both, but here they have a bigger challenge to handle. They have no win in the league so far and are justifiably bottom of the standings. Their only win out of the 10 matches this season came in the League Cup, and they’ve lost seven of the 10. In the last four matches, Norwich have no goal, and with two goals only in the league so far, they are the lowest scorers. Both their league goals have been scored by Teemu Pukki. Away from home, Norwich have no win in 16 league matches and in the last 26 they’ve managed just one, a 2-0 victory at Everton in November 2019. They have no win over Chelsea in the last 15 meetings.
