Chelsea vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Joseph King | in Premier League Predictions
Matchday 12 in the English Premier League concludes with a heavyweight matchup as 10th-place Chelsea play host to league leaders Manchester City. After an important win over rivals Tottenham last week, the Blues can now make it back-to-back league victories for only the second time this season. Manchester City, meanwhile, have fully recovered from a bump in form back in mid-October and are now seeking their sixth win across all competitions. Will Pep Guardiola’s side inflict further misery upon the Stamford Bridge faithful or can Pochettino’s Chelsea knock off another top-four rival?

Chelsea - Manchester City: Form Analysis
Things appear to be turning around slowly but surely for Chelsea. After winning just one of their first six Premier League matches this season, the Blues have now secured the full three points in three of their last five. This record improves to five wins from their last seven when factoring in the EFL Cup, where Pochettino’s side are into the quarter-finals. They’re coming off a morale-boosting 4-1 away win over Tottenham last weekend, albeit with the help of playing against a nine-man Spurs team for the final 35 minutes. Chelsea come into this challenging fixture with a nine point gap separating themselves and the top four. Coincidentally, they also find themselves nine points above the relegation zone as well.
Manchester City experienced a rare blip in form in the beginning of October, losing back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time since December, 2018. They’ve since stormed back with five victories on the bounce, three coming in the league and two in the Champions League group stage. Their most recent outing resulted in a 3-0 home win over Swiss club Young Boys, maintaining their 100% winning record in that competition. The Citizens' last time taking to the field in the Premier League was a 6-1 demolition of Bournemouth at the Etihad. City have now scored at least three goals in their last four straight and have netted a total of 17 goals during their current five-match winning streak.

Chelsea & Manchester City Squad Analysis
Chelsea have certainly had their share of injury problems this season. Mauricio Pochettino will be unable to call upon the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Ben Chilwell, Romeo Lavia, Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana. There have been a few boosts for the Argentine however, as he will expect to have the services of Enzo Fernandez, Armando Broja and Reece James for this clash.
For the champions, Pep Guardiola will be dealing with a banged-up back line for his team’s trip to the Bridge. Key defender/midfielder John Stones came off at half time in his team's last appearance and is looking likely to miss an extended period of time. The other problems at the back are Manuel Akanji with a back injury and fullback Sergio Gomez with an ankle sprain. However, Nathan Ake is expected to be available for selection. Kevin De Bruyne remains on the sidelines as the two-time PFA player of the year continues to recover from his thigh injury.

Our Chelsea vs Manchester City Prediction
The 4-1 win over Tottenham is certainly a flattering result given the two red cards and two injuries to key players in Maddison and van de Ven. Chelsea have found wins hard to come by this season, with the majority of them against teams close to the relegation zone. Manchester City, meanwhile, have looked superb in recent weeks as they have seemingly rediscovered their mojo following an uncharacteristic pair of league defeats. With 17 goals scored and only three conceded in their last five games, getting the visitors at this price feels like an absolute gift. Our Chelsea vs Manchester City prediction is for Man City to win the match.
