Chelsea and Liverpool will battle for the League Cup this Sunday, with both sides coming from a fine run of matches and hoping to bag the first domestic trophy of the season. Chelsea are coming from a 2-0 win over Lille in the Champions League and will be looking to extend a run that already has them unbeaten in seven matches. They have six straight wins ahead of this game and having recently won the Club World Cup, they will be keen on adding this to their trophy cabinet. Chelsea will however be sweating on the fitness of Mason Mount, while Hakim Ziyech and Matteo Kovacic limped off the win over Lille and are serious doubts for this game. Their deadly duo of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane has scored a combined seven goals in the last three matches and the two were also on the mark when these two sides faced off earlier this year in a game that ended 2-2. Back then, Liverpool led 2-0 but Chelsea managed to pull back both goals for a share of the spoils. Each of the two teams’ last two meetings have ended in draws.
