Chelsea’s season is going on well despite a few hiccups here and there in the recent few days. It can get better for them on Tuesday when they host Brighton as they resume Premier League action. Chelsea have 54 points, in fifth place while Brighton are 16th with 33 points. The Blues are coming from a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup semi final, just days after securing their place in the Champions League semis. It is a good run for Chelsea, who now have 14 clean sheets in 19 games under German manager Thomas Tuchel. Against City, Chelsea started with eight defensive players, with Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Mason Mount the only attacking players, and in the end, it paid off with Ziyech scoring and the team keeping a clean sheet. Andreas Christensen and Mateo Kovacic missed the game with injury but are likely to return on Tuesday, while Thiago Silva was withdrawn late with what looked like a back injury. In Silva’s absence Kurt Zouma can still do the job so Chelsea will be fine. They have three wins in the last four matches and can build on that, with a win here guaranteeing them to rise to the top four following West Ham United’s loss. This will be the Blues’ first game at Stamford Bridge since the 5-2 loss to West Bromwich Albion and they won’t want to lose to another relegation threatened side. In the last five home league matches, Chelsea have a loss and three wins, while they’ve scored two in four of the five and have four clean sheets.

Brighton are just seven points above the relegation zone after the 0-0 draw with Everton in their last game. They have two wins in their last 10 matches and none in the last two and lately, theirs has been a case of losing concentration when in the lead, which has ended in dropped points. Brighton have led in four of their last five matches but lost two, and going here, they have no clean sheet in the last four away matches in the league. They’ve however won three of the last six away matches and only failed to score in one of the six. Still on their away league matches, Brighton have conceded more than a goal in only one of the last seven but they’ve scored more than one in just one of the seven. In this game, they will miss former Chelsea defender Tariq Lamptey, who is a long term absentee, but South African international Percy Tau could return after isolation.
