Chelsea vs Brentford Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Chelsea will be hoping to bring an end to a dismal run in the Premier League when they welcome tenth placed Brentford to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening. The hosts have had a domestic league season to forget by their own standards, and come into this match eleventh in the league standings. Chelsea have managed just 44 points in 32 matches this season and trails the top four by a whopping 20 points, with seven matches left to go. In their last league fixture, Chelsea were beaten by Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 at home, which extended their poor run to four consecutive losses in all competitions and winless in their last five league matches. The bulk of their points have come at home for Chelsea, though their overall record is far from impressive, with six wins, five draws, and five losses in 16 matches at Stamford Bridge.  Chelsea have failed to win any of their last four home league matches, losing two and drawing two. The hosts were knocked out of the Champions League last week by Real Madrid and have had a full week off to reset and work on a few things to try and finish the season on the up. 

Brentford, meanwhile, have emerged as one of the surprise packages of the season and have navigated their way into the top half of the table as we head into the final stretch. The visitors are above their opponents, currently in tenth place, and still in with a shout of competing for a Conference League qualification spot, though they will need a fair bit of luck to achieve that. Brentford held a dangerous Aston Villa side to a 1-1 draw in their last match, but despite another good performance, the Bees have found wins hard to come by in recent weeks, losing three and drawing three of their last six matches. It’s a similar picture when we look at their away record this season which reads as three wins, seven draws, and six losses in 16 matches on the road. Brentford also comes into this match winless in their last three away matches (D1 L2). Brentford came away with a point in the reverse fixture, and considering their league position, they would be the much-happier of the two if there was a similar result in this one.
