In-form Central Coast Mariners host Adelaide United in the play-off semi-finals. The Mariners finished second in the main A-League, while Adelaide were in third. It's Central Coast who are the form side and won the away first leg 2-1. That was a good result after going a goal down after just four minutes. It was their second straight game against Adelaide and both have ben won. The two sides met in the final game of the main season and the Mariners got a 4-1 win. They come into this second leg unbeaten in their last six games. Home form has been strong too with seven wins in the main season and only three lost. They haven't lost at home this year and are unbeaten in their last nine. That includes beating Adelaide 4-0 in their first home game of 2023.

Adelaide didn't finish the main season well and slipped to third in the A-League. That meant they had to go into the play-offs at the quarter final stage and beat Wellington Phoenix 2-0 at home. That's their only victory in their last six matches. Before that, they'd won four league games in a row. They need to recapture that kind of form if they are to reach the final against either Melbourne City or Sydney FC.
