Celtic vs Reykjavik Prediction & Betting Tips - Champions League
by Steve Ashfield | in Champions League Predictions
Scottish champions Glasgow Celtic begin their bid to reach the group stages of the 2020/21 Champions League. It's all a bit chaotic at present with the next Champions League underway before the current one finishes. It's also a one-legged match so Celtic need to be totally focused in this game or they will end up in the Europa League. Their domestic season has already begun but been disrupted by Coronavirus problems. They have only played two games so far, winning one and drawing the other. No doubt they will be keeping an eye on where their players go to between games to prevent more disruption. Celtic lost to CFR Cluj in the Champions League qualifers last season and then made it to the last 32 of the Europa League before losing to Copenhagen. It was the home leg of that tie against the Danes that saw them eliminated, losing 3-1. In the Champions League, Celtic have only one of their last six home games (the loss to Cluj) and will be confident of progressing against the Icelandic side.
KR Rejkjavik are second in their domestic league, five points behind the league leaders. They are in the Champions League for the first time since the 2014/15 season and have never made it to the group stages. Recent seasons in the Europa League has seen them fail to get past the second qualifying round. There have been a few heavy losses too with 17 goals conceded in their last eight European games. That includes 10 put past them in their last two on the road in European competition. Current form isn't inspiring with only two points from their last three league matches. Celtic can be backed to win this game and be leading at both half and full time.

Our Celtic vs Reykjavik Prediction
It would be a disaster for Celtic if they were to lose in the first qualifying round of the Champions League. They have home advantage in this one-leg tie and that gives them a massive advantage. They are unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership this season (or is it next season, it's so confusing!) and will be confident of making it into the next round. Their opponents struggle in European competition and form has dipped of late in their domestic league. Go for Celtic to win this and be ahead at both half and full time.
