Celtic have had to begin their Champions League qualifying campaign a round early after a series of flops by Scottish teams in European competition. That means they will need to play eight matches if they want to reach the group stages as they did last year. The first one is already out of the way and they had a comfortable 3-0 win over Alashkert. It took them into first half injury time to get the opening goal though and the other two goals came in the last ten minutes. The Scottish champions have been scoring plenty of goals in the last few weeks with the most recent performance being a 4-1 home win over Standard Liege making it 14 in the last three after thrashing Shamrock Rovers 7-0. Manager Brendan Rodgers played two up front in the first leg and there should be a few more goals to celebrate in this match.
Alashkert have little option but to come forward in this game having a three-goal deficit but there’s little chance of them getting back into this tie. They haven’t played since the first leg and have gone four games without a win with just one victory in the last eight. Alashkert have failed to score in their last three games so the thought of them going to Scotland and scoring the three goals they need without reply just to get extra time looks doubtful to say the least. Go for over 2.5 goals to be scored in this match.
