After a week of cup fixtures, La Liga returns this weekend with Celta Vigo playing hosts to Villareal on Friday at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos in what's expected to be an exciting encounter. The visitors come into this match off the back of three consecutive wins in La Liga, which has moved them up into 6th place with 27 points in 16 matches, equal with Athletico Madrid and just one point behind Real Betis, who currently occupy the fourth and final Champions League spot. Villareal will be in high spirits ahead of this match, defeating reigning champions Real Madrid in their last match, putting on a resilient display to hold on to all three points. Villareal's form away from home this season hasn't been great, winning just three of their nine fixtures on the road this season, but they come up against a team whose home form hasn't been good either, and The Yellow Submarine will fancy coming away with the points in this match. 

While their opponents are looking to force their way into Champions League contention, Celta Vigo is trying to force their way away from the relegation zone. The home side has recorded just four wins this term, with the most recent coming in their last match against bottom-club Eleche, which was Celta Vigo's first win since early October. That win took them to just above the relegation zone to 16th place, with 16 points in as many games; however, they are still just one point above the drop. Celta Vigo has been good in this fixture in recent times, losing just one of their last three encounters against this opponent. After being knocked out of the cup competitions for this season, Carlos Carvahal's side will be able to focus all their energy on toppling some of the teams above them in the second half of the season.
